Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect No. 1 cooling fan relay electrical connector and remove relay from mounting clip, then inspect as follows:
a. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 4, Fig. 20.

b. Ensure continuity does not exists between terminals 1 and 2.
c. Apply battery voltage across terminals 3 and 4.
d. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2.
2. Disconnect No. 2 cooling fan relay electrical connector and remove relay from mounting clip, then inspect as follows:
a. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 1 and 6, Fig. 21.

b. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 5.
c. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 2 and 5.
d. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 6.
e. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 3 and 5.
f. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 2 and 5.
3. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
