Removal and Installation







REMOVAL
1. Position the front wheels facing straight ahead.

a. Using the seat belt of the driver's seat fix the steering wheel so that it does not turn.

2. Remove RH and LH front fender apron seals.
a. Remove the 2 bolts.

3. Disconnect RH and LH tie rod ends.
4. Disconnect intermediate shaft.







a. Place matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and control valve shaft.
b. Loosen bolt A and remove bolt B.

5. Disconnect tube clamp.
a. Remove the nut.

6. Disconnect pressure feed and return tubes.







a. Using SST 09631-22020 disconnect the tube.

7. Disconnect stabilizer bar
a. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 nuts.

NOTE: Do not remove the bar.

8. Remove heated oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1).
a. Disconnect the connector.

9. Remove PS gear assembly.
a. Remove the 2 gear assembly set bolts and nuts.

NOTE: Lift up the stabilizer bar and remove the bolts.

b. Remove the gear assembly from the LH of the vehicle.

NOTE: Do not damage the turn pressure tube.

INSTALLATION
1. Install PS gear assembly.
a. Install the gear assembly from the LH of the vehicle.

NOTE: Do not damage the turn pressure tube.

b. Torque the 2 gear assembly set bolts and nuts. Torque: 181 Nm (1,850 kgf.cm, 134 ft.lb.).

NOTE: Lift up the stabilizer bar and install the bolts.

2. Install heated oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1).
a. Torque the sensor to 44 Nm (450 kgf.cm, 33 ft.lb.).
b. Connect the connector.

3. Connect stabilizer bar.
a. Torque the 4 bolts and 2 nuts. Bolt: 19 Nm (195 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lb) Nut: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lb.).

4. Connect pressure feed and return tubes.







a. Using SST 09631-22020 connect the tube.
b. Torque: 20 Nm (203 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lb.).

NOTE: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.).

5. Connect tube clamp.
a. Torque the nut to 10 Nm (100 kgf.cm. 7 ft.lb.).

6. Connect intermediate shaft.







a. Align the matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and control valve shaft.
b. Torque the 2 (A and B) bolts.
c. Torque: 35 Nm (360 kgf.cm, 26 ft.lb.).

7. Connect RH and LH tie rod ends.
8. Install RH and LH front fender apron seals.
a. Tighten the 2 bolts.

9. Check steering wheel center point.
a. Remove seat belt from steering wheel.

10. Bleed power steering system.
11. Check front wheel alignment.
