Passengers Airbag Assembly

Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Components:

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

NOTICE:
- If the wiring Connector of the SRS ii disconnected with the ignition switch at ON or ACC. DTC will be recorded.
- Never use airbag part8 from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new parts.





1. Disconnect airbag connector.
(a) Remove the glove compartment door finish plate inside the glove compartment.
(b) Disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE: When disconnecting the front passenger airbag connector, take care not to pull the airbag wire harness.

2. Remove the following parts:
(a) Steering wheel pad
(b) Steering wheel
(c) Under cover No.2
(d) Instrument lower panel
(e) Compartment panel
(f) Compartment door
(g) Combination switch
(h) Center cluster finish panel
(i) Radio
(j) Cluster finish panel
(k) Heater control panel

3. Remove front passenger airbag assembly.





(a) Remove the RH side installation bolt.





(b) Remove the 5 bolts.
(c) Remove the front passenger airbag assembly.

CAUTION:
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag door facing down.
- Never disassembly the front passenger airbag assembly.

Front Passenger Airbag Assembly Components:

FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

1. Assemble airbag door and front passenger airbag assembly

CAUTION:
- Be sure to replace the new airbag door and the new airbag assembly (w/o Airbag door) in combination, not separately.
- When installing airbag door, always use new bolts.
- Do not store the front passenger airbag assembly with the airbag door or airbag door installation aide facing down.
- Never disassemble the front passenger airbag assembly.
- Make sure the airbag door has no scratches, cracks, peeling or deformation.
- When installing the airbag door, do not let any foreign particles get Into the airbag assembly.
- When lnstalling the airbag door, do not pinch or otherwise damage the bag.





(a) Install the airbag door with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 8.0 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 89 in.lbf)





(b) Using a riveter, install the 2 new rivets.





2. Install front passenger airbag assembly.
(a) Install the front passenger airbag assembly with the 6 bolts.
(b) To instrument panel reinforcement.

Diameter = 8 mm (0.32 in.)
Torque: 20 N.m (210 kgf.cm. 15 ft.lbf)

To instrument panel.

Diameter = 6 mm (0.24 in.)
Torque: 8.0 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf)

NOTICE:
- Make cure the front passenger airbag assembly is installed to the specified torque.
- If the front passenger airbag assembly has been dropped, or there are crack, dent, or other defect. in the case or connector. replace the front petitioner airbag assembly with a new one.
- When installing the front passenger airbag assembly, take care that the wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other part.

3. Install all removed parts in reverse sequence.

Steering wheel torque: 35 N.m (360 kgf.cm. 26 ft.lbf)

HINT: When installing the glove compartment. pull the airbag wire harness out from the glove compartment opening hole.

NOTICE: Do not pull the airbag wire harness too strongly.





4. Connect airbag connector.
(a) Connect the airbag connector.
(b) Put the connector on the glove compartment door finish plate.
(c) Install the glove compartment door finish plate to the glove compartment.
