Fuel Pump Removal and Installation
REMOVAL / INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Do not smoke or work near an open flame when working on the fuel pump.
1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.
CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
2. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION.
3. REMOVE FLOOR SERVICE HOLE COVER.
- Take out the floor carpet.
- Remove the 5 screws and service hole cover.
4. DISCONNECT FUEL PUMP & SENDER GAUGE CONNECTOR
5. DISCONNECT FUEL PIPE AND HOSE FROM FUEL PUMP BRACKET.
NOTICE: Remove, then re-install the fuel filler cap to release the fuel tank pressure and help prevent the fuel from flowing out.
- Using SST, disconnect the outlet pipe from the pump bracket. (SST 09631-22020)
- Disconnect the return hose from the pump bracket.
Torque: 28 Nm (21 ft.lb) (with SST)
6. REMOVE FUEL PUMP BRACKET ASSEMBLY FROM FUEL TANK.
- Remove the 8 bolts.
Torque: 4 Nm (35 in.lb)
- Pull out the pump bracket assembly.
- Remove the gasket from the pump bracket.
NOTICE:
- Do not damage the fuel pump filter.
- Be careful not to bend the arm of the sender gauge.
INSTALLATION HINTS:
- Install a new gasket to the pump bracket.
- Installation is the reverse order of removal.
