Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect No. 1 cooling fan relay as follows:
a. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2, Fig. 6.

b. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 4.
c. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2.
d. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 3 and 4.
e. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
2. Inspect No. 2 cooling fan relay as follows:
a. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2, Fig. 7.

b. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 4.
c. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 3 and 5
d. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2.
e. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 3 and 4.
f. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 5.
g. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
3. Inspect No. 3 cooling fan relay as follows:
a. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2, Fig. 8.

b. Ensure continuity does not exist between terminals 3 and 5.
c. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2.
d. Ensure continuity exists between terminals 3 and 5.
e. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
