Removal and Installation
1. On models with coded audio anti-theft system, obtain three digit code.2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove air cleaner assembly and throttle cable.
4. On models with cruise control, remove cruise control actuator cover and disconnect connector from actuator.
5. Remove ground earth terminal.
6. Remove starter.
7. Disconnect speed sensor connectors, Park/Neutral switch and solenoid connector.
8. Disconnect shift control cable and oil cooler hoses.
9. Remove two front side transaxle mounting bolts and engine mounting bolts.
10. Remove oil cooler clamping bolts from frame assembly.
11. Remove three upper transaxle to engine bolts.
12. Install engine support fixture and tie steering gear housing to support fixture by suitable cord, or equivalent.
13. Raise and support vehicle then remove left front wheel.
14. Remove exhaust pipe.
15. Remove differential fluid drain plug and drain fluid into suitable container.
16. Remove engine side covers and front engine cover.
17. Remove driveshaft.
18. Remove front and rear side engine mounting bolts then left side transaxle mounting bolts.
19. Remove four bolts and disconnect stabilizer bar bush bracket from front frame assembly then steering gear housing bolts and steering gear housing.
20. Remove front frame assembly.
21. Hold transaxle with a jack and remove rear end plate.
22. Remove torque converter clutch mounting bolts.
23. Remove engine to transaxle bolts.
24. Remove transaxle assembly and torque converter clutch.
25. Reverse procedure to install, noting that on models with coded audio anti-theft systems, rearm as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
