Throttle Body: Service and Repair







THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
2. DISCONNECT ACCELERATOR CABLE
3. DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE
- Disconnect the PCV hose.



- Loosen the 2 hose clamps, and remove the air cleaner hose.

5. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
- Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
- Disconnect the IAC valve connector.
- Disconnect these vacuum hoses:



(1) Vacuum hose (from port R of EGR vacuum modulator)
(2) Vacuum hose (from port E of EGR vacuum modulator)
- Disconnect these hoses:



(1) Water bypass hose (from intake manifold)
(2) Water bypass hose (from water inlet housing)
(3) Air assist hose



- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts, EGR gas temperature sensor bracket, throttle body and gasket.
Torque: 19.5 Nm (14 ft.lb)


6. CLEAN THROTTLE BODY
- Using a soft brush and carburetor cleaner, clean the cast parts.



- Using compressed air, clean all the passages and apertures.

NOTICE: To prevent deterioration, do not clean the throttle position sensor.

INSTALLATION HINTS:
- Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
- Place a new gasket on the air intake chamber.
