Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

CAUTION:
Do not smoke while performing this procedure.
Be careful not to cause any sparks.


1. When disconnecting the high fuel pressure line, a large amount of gasoline will spill out, so observe the following procedures:



(a) Disconnect the fuel pump connector.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) After the engine has stopped on its own, turn the ignition switch to LOCK.



(d) Put a container under the connection.
(e) Slowly loosen the connection.
(f) Disconnect the connection.
(g) Plug the connection with a rubber plug.

2. When connecting the flare nut or union bolt on the high pressure pipe union, observe the following procedures:

Union Bolt Type:



- Always use 2 new gaskets.
- Tighten the union bolt to the specified torque by hand.

Torque: 29 Nm (300 kg.cm, 21 ft.lb)

Flare Nut Type:
- Apply a light coat of engine oil to the flare nut, and tighten the flare nut by hand.
- Using SST, tighten the flare nut to specified torque.
SST 09631-22020

NOTICE: Do not allow the fuel pipe to rotate, when tightening the flare nut.

Torque:
Fuel pump side: 28 Nm (285 kg.cm, 21 ft.lb)
Others: 30 Nm (310 kg.cm, 22 ft.lb)





HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 3O cm (11.81 in).
