Oil Cooler Installation Procedures

1. Remove Cruise Control Actuator.





a. Remove the bolt, clip and cruise control actuator cover.

b. Open connector.





c. Remove the three bolts and cruise control actuator with bracket.

NOTE:
DO NOT DISCARD BOLTS!





2. Remove Engine Under Covers.

Remove the nine bolts, ten screws, two clips and the engine under covers.

3. Remove Front Bumper.

Refer to the appropriate Repair Manual for removal and installation procedures for the front bumper.

4. Install Oil Cooler Tube No. 2

a. Disconnect the hose from the oil cooler pipe from the LH side of the radiator and remove the hose at the oil cooler outlet pipe from the transaxle.

NOTE:
Prepare a container to catch spill.





b. Install the oil cooler inlet hoses and oil cooler outlet hoses to the oil cooler tube No. 2 as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.





c. Install the tube brackets with the two bolts (P/N 91611-60816) on the left side of the front suspension member.

Torque: 62 in.lbf (71 kgf.cm, 7 Nm)





5. Install Oil Cooler Tube No. 2

a. Install the oil cooler inlet hoses (P/N 32943-33070 & 32943-33031) and oil cooler outlet hoses (P/N 32943-33041 & 32943-33080) to the oil cooler tube No. 2 (P/N 32907-33070) as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.





b. Remove the radiator left hand side deflector as indicated in the illustration.





c. Install the tube bracket with the bolt (P/N 90119-06518) on the side member.

Torque: 62 in.lbf (71 kgf.cm, 7 Nm)

d. Reinstall the radiator left hand side deflector.

6. Connect Oil Cooler Hose





a. Connect the hoses from the oil cooler tube No. 2 to the oil cooler outlet tube No. 2 as shown.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.





b. Connect the front of the oil cooler outlet hose to the oil cooler pipe on the left side of the radiator.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.





c. Connect the transmission oil cooler hose No. 2 to the oil cooler outlet pipe on the transaxle as shown.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.

7. Install Oil Cooler





a. Install the clamp (P/N 33495-41010) using bolt (P/N 90119-06518) to the hood lock support (see arrow).

Torque: 62 in.lbf (71 kgf.cm, 7 Nm)





b. Remove the cooler condenser bracket lock bolt (see arrow).

NOTE:
DO NOT DISCARD BOLT!





c. Install the oil cooler using bolt (P/N 90119-06518), nut (P/N 90179-06058) and the bolt removed in step b (see arrows).

Torque: 66 in.lbf (76 kgf.cm, 7.4 Nm)





8. Connect Oil Cooler Hose Connect the hoses to the oil cooler pipes as shown in illustration.

NOTE:
Install the hose clamp, positioned as indicated in illustrations, and use pliers to remove the clips.

10. Install Cruise Control Actuator





a. Install the cruise control actuator with bracket using original bolts.

Torque: 9 ft.lbf (130 kgf.cm, 13 Nm)

b. Reconnect harness.





c. Install the cruise control actuator cover, clip and bolt.

d. Reinstall and connect battery.

11. Check for Fluid Leaks

a. Start the engine.





b. With the engine idling and parking brake engaged, shift transmission into all positions from P to L and back to P, stopping momentarily in each gear position.





c. Check fluid level at idle when temperature reaches 158 to 175°F (70-80°C).

d. Check for leaks from hose and tube connections.

e. Stop engine.

f. Add new ATF type T-IV fluid (replaces DEXRON II and III).

g. Repeat steps a through f.

NOTE:
Additional Capacity with cooler will be 7 U.S. quarts (5 liters).

12. Install Front Bumper





13. Install Engine Under Covers using the original hardware.
