Separation
1. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body.
2. Remove starter. Refer to Starting and Charging.
3. Disconnect engine wire from transaxle.
Disconnect these connectors and clamps:
(1) Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) connector.
(2) Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch connector.
(3) Solenoid connector.
(4) Direct clutch speed sensor connector.
(5) 2 engine wire clamps from bracket.
4. Remove torque converter clutch mounting bolts.
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and flywheel housing under cover.
(b) Turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to gain access to each bolt.
(c) Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench, and remove the 6 bolts.
5. Remove transaxle.
(a) Remove the bolt, nut and RH exhaust manifold stay.
(b) Remove the bolt, nut and LH exhaust manifold stay.
(c) Remove the 8 bolts and ground strap.
(d) Remove the transaxle together with the torque converter clutch from the engine.
6. Remove drive plate. Remove the 8 bolts, rear plate, drive plate and front spacer.
