Diagnosis and Symptoms
1. Check cooling fan operation with temperature below 190°F as follows:a. Turn ignition switch to On.
b. Check that cooling fan stops. If not, check cooling fan relay and ECT switch and check for separated connector or severed wire between cooling fan relay and ECT switch.
c. Disconnect No. 1 ECT switch connector.
d. Check that cooling fan operates. If not, check the fuses, engine main relay, cooling fan relay, cooling fan and check for a short between cooling fan relay and ECT switch.
e. Reconnect No.1 ECT switch connector.
2. Check cooling fan operation with high temperature above 208°F as follows:
a. Start engine and raise coolant temperature to above 208°F.
b. Check that cooling fan operates. If not, replace No. 1 ECT switch.
