Disassembly
Check driveshaft to ensure there is no play in the inboard and outboard joints. Ensure inboard joint slides smoothly in the thrust direction and that there is no play in the axial direction.
1. Remove inboard joint boot clamps.
2. Disassemble inboard joint as follows:
a. Place alignment marks on the inboard joint and driveshaft. Do not use a punch to place alignment marks.
b. Remove snap ring.
c. Using tool 09726-0030 or equivalent, a socket wrench and a suitable press, remove inboard joint from driveshaft.
d. Remove attaching bolts, nuts and washers from inboard joint assembly.
e. Using a suitable screwdriver and a hammer, remove inboard joint from inboard joint cover. When removing, hold onto the inner and outer race assemblies.
f. Remove boots. Remove the boot from the inboard joint and outboard joint. Check inside and outside of the boots for damage.
