Injection Inspection
CAUTION: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.
1. INSPECT INJECTOR INJECTION.
- Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel filter outlet.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the fuel filter outlet with the 2 gaskets and union bolt. (SST 09268-41045 (90405-09015))
HINT: Use the vehicle's fuel filter.
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect the fuel return hose, SST (hose) and SST (union) to the fuel pressure regulator. (SST 09268-41045 (09268-41090))
- Install the 0-ring to the injector.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp). (SST 09268-41045)
- Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
HINT: Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.
- Remove the fuse cover on the instrument panel.
- Connect the Toyota hand-held tester to the DLC3
- Turn the ignition switch ON and Toyota hand-held tester main switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.
- Select the active test mode on the Toyota hand-held tester.
- Please refer to the Toyota hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
- If you have no Toyota hand-held tester, connect the positive(+) and negative(-) leads from the battery to the fuel pump connector.
- Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder. (SST 09842-30070)
- Test each injector 2 or 3 times.
Volume: 56 - 69 cm3 (3.4 - 4.2 Cu in.) per 15 sec.
Difference between each injector: 6 cm3 (0.4 Cu in.) or less
- If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
2. INSPECT LEAKAGE.
- In the condition above, disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector. (SST 09842-30070)
Fuel drop: 1 drop or less per minute
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Remove SST. (SST 09268-41045)
- Reinstall the fuel pressure regulator to the delivery pipe.
Torque: 8 Nm (69 in.lb)
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
- Disconnect the Toyota hand-held tester from th DLC3.
- Re-install the fuse cover on the instrument panel.
