1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2. Remove brake caliper from steering knuckle, Fig. 4. Suspend caliper aside with suitable wire. Leave brake hose attached.

3. On models equipped with Toyota Electronically Modulated Suspension (TEMS), remove TEMS actuator cover and actuator from top of strut.
4. On all models, loosen piston rod locknut enough that it can be turned by hand.
5. Remove upper suspension arm to vehicle body attaching nuts and bolts, then disconnect suspension arm from body.
6. Remove three strut assembly to vehicle body attaching nuts.
7. Remove strut to lower suspension arm attaching nut and bolt, then the strut.
8. Place strut in suitable holding devise, then compress coil spring with spring compressing tool No. 09727-0.0020, or equivalent.
9. Remove top strut support center nut, then suspension support, coil spring and spring bumper.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten strut to vehicle attaching nuts and strut to lower suspension arm attaching nut to specifications. Temporarily install upper suspension arm, then lower vehicle and bounce several times to stabilize suspension. With vehicle weight on suspension, tighten upper suspension arm to vehicle body attaching nuts and piston rod locknut specifications.
