Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper: Service and Repair






FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.
CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least after 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.




2. REMOVE STARTER.

3. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER.



(a) Remove the pulsation damper and upper gasket.
(b) Disconnect the fuel inlet pipe from the fuel pipe support, and remove the lower gasket.


FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER.



(a) Install the fuel inlet pipe and pulsation damper with 2 new gaskets.

HINT: Different gaskets are used for the upper (large size) and lower (small size).




(b) Using special service tool [SST# 09617-24011], tighten the pulsation damper.

HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 in.).

Torque:
41 Nm (30 ft.lb)
35 Nm (25 ft.lb) if using SST
[see NOTE below]

[NOTE] The SST increases the length of the torque wrench, effectively increasing the torque applied.




2. INSTALL STARTER.
3. CONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
4. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS.
