INSPECTION OF VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (VSV) FOR EGR

1. REMOVE VSV.
2. INSPECT VSV.
A. Inspect VSV for open circuit.

- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between the terminals.

Resistance at 20°C (68°F): 30 - 34 Ohms

^ If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.

B. Inspect VSV for ground.

- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
^ If there is continuity, replace the VSV.

C. Inspect VSV operation.

(1) Attach a piece of vacuum hose to port E. Blow into the hose and check that the air does not flow from ports E to F.

(2) Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
(3) Check that the air flows from ports E to F.
^ If operation is not as specified, replace the VSV.

3. REINSTALL VSV.
(a) Install the VSV with the bolt.
(b) Connect the following connector and hoses:

(1) Connector
(2) Hose (from EGR vacuum modulator) to port E of VSV
(3) Hose (from intake chamber) to port F of VSV
