Ignition Coil Pack: Testing and Inspection

NOTICE: Cold and Hot in the following sentences express the temperature of the coils themselves.
Cold is from -10°C (14°F) to 50°C (122°F).
Hot is from 50°C (122°F) to 100°C (212°F).


1. REMOVE NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
(a) Remove the oil filler cap.

The Coils Are Located Under No.3 Timing Belt Cover:




(b) Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 10 bolts and belt cover and gasket.

2. DISCONNECT IGNITION COIL CONNECTORS.
3. INSPECT PRIMARY WINDING RESISTANCE.



- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals.

Cold: 0.54 - 0.84 Ohms
Hot: 0.68 - 0.98 Ohms


^ If the resistance of any of the coil packs is not as specified, replace that coil pack.

4. RECONNECT IGNITION COIL CONNECTORS.
5. REINSTALL NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
