Ignition Coil Pack: Service and Repair






REMOVAL PROCEDURES
1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started until at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. REMOVE NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
(a) Remove the oil filler cap.



(b) Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 10 bolts and belt cover and gasket.




3. REMOVE PCV HOSES.
- Remove the 2 PCV hoses.

4. DISCONNECT IGNITION COIL CONNECTORS.
(a) Disconnect the engine wire from the 6 clamps on the ignition coils.
(b) Disconnect the 6 ignition coil connectors.

5. REMOVE IGNITION COILS ASSEMBLIES.



- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 ignition coils assembly.

6. REMOVE IGNITION COILS FROM BRACKET.



(a) Remove the rubber boot from the ignition coil.
(b) Remove the 2 screws and ignition coil.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
1. INSTALL IGNITION COILS TO BRACKET.
- Install the 2 screws into each bracket.

Torque: 2.5 Nm (22 in.lb)

2. INSTALL IGNITION COILS ASSEMBLIES.
- Install the 2 bolts each assembly bracket to cylinder head.

Torque: 8.8 Nm (78 in.lb)

3. CONNECT IGNITION COIL CONNECTORS.
4. INSTALL PCV HOSES.
5. INSTALL NO.3 TIMING BELT COVER.
6. CONNECT NEGATIVE TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
