INSTALLATION OF PIO/DIO CASSETTE OR CD PLAYERS ON 1992 MODEL RADIOS

1992 Model Year Radios (except 31801 and 76203) are designed to accomodate the installation of Port Installed Option (PIO)/Dealer Installed Option (DIO) cassette or CD players.





NOTE:
When Installing a PIO/DIO cassette or CD player, the P/D switch on the cassette/ CD player must be in the "D" mode (see Illustration).


CAUTION.

If the switch is in the "P" mode, the audio system will malfunction, exhibiting one or more of the following conditions:

1) No sound from the audio system but normal illumination.

2) No sound from the PIO/DIO Cassette or CD (CD will spin/Cassette will run).
3) PIO/DIO Cassette or CD sound mixes with sound of the radio.

^ Before changing the "P/D" switch, be sure to disconnect the PIO/DIO unit from the radio.

^ Be sure to check all radio, cassette and/or CD operations after installation.





Use the following P/D setting on the following '92 radios:


COROLLA:

Because the Corolla uses an extended DIN cable between the radio and PIO/DIO unit, it is supplied as a separate part. The correct DIN cable must be used for proper operation of the audio system.

When installing a PIO/DIO Cassette or CD player on a Corolla with a '92 radio, DIN wire harness (P/N 08689-12805) is required to support the "D" mode. If the DIN wire harness (08689-12803) is used on a Corolla with a '92 radio, the radio will malfunction, exhibiting one or more of the following conditions:
1) Radio plays at a normal volume but the PIO/DIO unit plays at a much reduced volume.

2) Radio and PIO/DIO unit play at a much reduced volume.
