EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

EGR Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV):

The ECU controls the overall operation of the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System by opening and closing the vacuum switching valve (VSV). The ECU senses coolant temperature, engine rpm, vehicle speed and throttle valve operation to ground the VSV and allow engine vacuum to determine EGR Valve operation. The VSV inputs the ECU through terminal EGR. Refer to EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES for additional information on the EGR System.
