CD INOPERATIVE ON '92 PANASONIC 3-IN-1 RADIOS (56804 & 56801)

CD won't play or CD skipping conditions may occur on 3-in-1 radios 56804 (P/N 86120-33100) and 56801 (P/N 86120-2A022). This can be caused by the following:

1) Optical lens of the CD changer deforms with high temperature.

2) Guide pins contact the CD during play.

DIAGNOSTIC TIPS:

1) Check that the playing surface of the CD is free of oil, dust and scratches. Also check the edge of the CD for small pieces of loose plastic which may flake off onto the playing surface. When cleaning a CD, wipe off foreign material in a straight line, center-to edge (non-circular) motion.

2) Confirm that the customer is not driving on excessively rough roads.

PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:

Production change has been made by Panasonic to the CD player's optical pick-up and guide pins starting 12/91 (vehicle production date).
