Throttle Position Switch: Adjustments

1. Connect a tachometer to the engine. Fig. 157
2. Start engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
3. Probe the TP switch wire with the positive (+) lead of a voltmeter and ground the negative (-) lead. Fig. 14a
4. From idle, slowly open the throttle valve by hand and compare the engine speed with the voltage drop on the voltmeter.
5. The voltage should drop from 12 volts to 0 volts between 1,200 - 1,600 rpm.

6. If not as specified, adjust the throttle position switch adjusting screw. Fig. 15a

Setting Speed: 1,400 rpm

7. Remove tachometer and voltmeter from the engine.
