Fast Idle Speed

Fig. 155 Vacuum Hose To EGR Valve:

1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Disconnect and plug the hose from the EGR valve. This will shut-off the EGR system. Fig. 155

3. Start the engine.
4. While holding the throttle valve slightly open, set the fast idle adjusting cam, and release the throttle valve. Fig. 156
5. Check the fast idle speed.

Fast idle speed: (M/T) 3,000 rpm
(A/T) 2,800 rpm

NOTE: Inspect and adjust the fast idle speed with the electric cooling fan OFF.

6. Adjust the fast idle speed by turning the fast idle adjusting screw. Fig. 158
7. Reconnect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
