System Testing

1. With the coolant temperature below 41°F, disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum switch. Fig. 69
2. Start the engine and check that NO vacuum is felt at the vacuum hose.
3. Reconnect the vacuum hose.
4. Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
5. Disconnect the electronic air bleed control valve (EBCV) electrical connector. Fig. 70
6. Raise engine speed to 2,500 rpm and reconnect EBCV connector.
7. The engine speed should drop about 300 rpm momentarily.
8. Allow the engine to return to idle and disconnect/reconnect EBCV connector.
9. Check that engine speed does NOT change.
10. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum switch. Repeat steps 5 and 6.
11. The engine speed should NOT change.
12. If a problem is found with the system, test each FBC component.
