If exhaust system back-pressure and/or exhaust emission levels are excessive, remove the catalytic converter from the car and make a visual check of both converter sections for plugged, melted or cracked ceramic grids inside. If any of the visible areas are damaged, replace the catalytic converter. Inspect the air suction inlet pipe for cracks, dents or corrosion damage and repair or replace as necessary.
