Warranty - Remanufactured Automatic Transmissions

89toyota02

Date: 3-8-89 No: 89-14 Ref:_______
SUBJECT: REMANUFACTURED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

Please be advised that effective immediately selected remanufactured automatic transmissions (ATM) will be available, refer to the attachment for the vehicles/ATMs that are involved in the program. You will be notified as to when the remaining ATMs in the program will be released via TDN broadcasts. TMS recommends that the following guidelines be used in determining whether or not to use a remanufactured ATM:

^ a remanufactured ATM should not be used when a repair can be made without removing the transmission from the vehicle or if only the replacement of the torque converter or the front pump seal is necessary.

^ a remanufactured ATM is optional if the cost of an overhaul is less than the cost of a remanufactured replacement.

^ a remanufactured ATM is required for replacement if the cost of an overhaul is greater than the cost of a remanufactured transmission.

Remanufactured automatic transmissions will be warranted for 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first, or the remainder of the applicable new vehicle limited warranty on the vehicle in which it is placed, whichever warranty coverage is longer. If the remanufactured ATM is purchased by an independent party over the counter then the warranty coverage is 12 months from the date of purchase.

Transmissions removed from vehicles involved in this program should be returned as soon as possible via an approved common carrier to:

AW Transmission Engineering U.S.A, Inc. 14920 Keel Street Plymouth, MI 48170

In order to receive proper credit for the automatic transmission core the following guidelines must be observed.

1. Returned cores must be in a Toyota remanufactured ATM container.

2. Cores must be completely assembled with no missing parts.

3. Cores must not show any external damage resulting from external forces.

4. Cores must be part of the remanufactured ATM program.

As with all claims involving remanufactured parts, TMS will reimburse the dealer for the exchange price of the remanufactured parts plus mark-up on the exchange value. Core value will be reimbursed (provided that all core return requirements have been met) by TMS after return of the core as outlined in the checklist in the envelope included with each remanufactured ATM.

Should you have any questions regarding this program please contact the dealer Warranty "800" Assistance Line.
