A/T - Removing And Installing The B2 Seal
TSB 89-19 (June)SUPPLEMENT TO 88-48 (Nov)
SUBJECT: Removing and Installing the B2 Seal
PROCEDURE:
When driving the B2 seal in the case bore, many times the seal will stop at a small step. This may give the impression that the seal has bottomed against the 2nd brake cylinder.
Unless the seal is pressed tightly against the 2nd brake cylinder, the transmission may slip in 2nd gear. If the B2 seal has stopped at the small step in the case bore, it has approximately 1/4" further to go before it presses against the 2nd brake cylinder.
When REMOVING a B2 seal from the case, it should be driven out the bottom.
If the B2 seal is driven into the center of the case, it may damage the case. Since the B2 seal bore is slightly tapered, it will not allow the seal to go through the full bore without damage.
