Fig. 14 Coil Spring Rear Suspension. Corolla AWD & RWD:

1. Hoist rear axle housing and support body with suitable stands.
2. Remove shock absorber bottom retaining bolt Fig. 14.
3. Remove cover from upper shock, then bolt and shock absorber.
4. Remove coil spring as follows:
a. Remove stabilizer bar brackets to rear axle housing.
b. Disconnect lateral control rod from rear axle housing.
c. Slowly lower rear axle housing, then remove coil spring and insulators.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torque to specifications and note the following:
a. When installing lateral control rod, install but do not tighten retaining bolt until last step.
b. After wheels have been installed and vehicle lowered, jounce vehicle with much energy to stabilize suspension.
c. Torque control rod nut to specifications.
