Ignition Control Module: Description and Operation
Ignition System:
The igniter, located on right side of engine compartment, is an electronic switching device used by the ECU to control coil firing. When the ECU has calculated optimum timing, it signals the igniter to interrupt current flow in the coil primary windings, inducing high voltage from the coil secondary windings. By controlling igniter switching, the ECU regulates ignition timing based on inputs received from various sensors.
