Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Drain engine coolant from radiator.
2. Disconnect accelerator return spring.
3. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle linkage.
4. Disconnect air cleaner hose.
5. Disconnect TPS connector.
6. Disconnect hoses:
a. PCV hose
b. Water by-pass hoses
c. Emission control vacuum hoses
7. Remove two bolts, two nuts, throttle body and gasket.

Removing Throttle Body:

8. If necessary, remove Auxiliary Air Valve from bottom of throttle body.

INSTALLATION:

1. If the Auxiliary Air Valve was removed, place a new gasket and O-ring on the throttle body and reinstall the Air Valve using the five mounting screws.

Installing Auxiliary Air Valve Gasket And O-ring:

2. Install a new gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum.
3. Install the throttle body using the four mounting bolts/nuts. Torque evenly to 16 ft.lbs. (22 N-m).
4. Connect hoses:
a. PCV hose
b. Water by-pass hose
c. Emission control vacuum hoses
5. Connect TPS connector.
6. Connect air cleaner hose.
7. Connect accelerator cable and adjust. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for proper procedure.
8. Connect accelerator return spring.
9. Fill radiator with coolant.
10. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks.
