Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Description and Operation
Positive Crankcase Ventilation System:
A Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system is used to provide more complete scavenging of crankcase vapors. Fresh air from the air cleaner is supplied to the crankcase and mixed with blow-by gases and then passed through a positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV) into the intake system. Once in the intake system the mixture is then added to the intake fuel/air charge and burned in the combustion process.
