1. INPUT SIGNALS
[1] E/G VACUUM SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE VACUUM SW (EX. CALIF.)/VACUUM SW NO. 1 (CALIF.) IS TURNED ON OR OFF BY THE E/G VACUUM. THE SW CONDITION IS INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL VSW (EX. CALIF.)/VSW 1 (CALIF.) OF THE COMPUTER.
[2] WATER TEMP. SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE WATER TEMP. SW DETECTS THE COOLANT TEMP., WHICH IS INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL TWS (EX. CALIF.)/TERMINAL TWS 1 (CALIF.) OF THE COMPUTER.
[3] 0X SENSOR SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE CONNECTOR OF OXYGEN IN THE EXHAUST GASES IS DETECTED AND INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL OX OF THE COMPUTER.
[4] THROTTLE SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE THROTTLE SW DETECTS THE THROTTLE VALVE OPENING ANGLE AND INPUTS IT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL THS OF THE COMPUTER.
[5] ENGINE SPEED SIGNAL SYSTEM
THE E/G SPEED SIGNAL FROM THE IGNITER IS INPUT AS A CONTROL SIGNAL TO TERMINAL TAC OF THE COMPUTER.
[6] L.TERMINAL VOLTAGE SIGNAL SYSTEM
VOLTAGE FROM THE L TERMINAL OF THE REGULATOR IS MONITORED AND A CONTROL SIGNAL IS INPUT TO TERMINAL RGL (EX. CALIF.(/REG (CALIF.) OF THE COMPUTER.
2. CONTROL SYSTEM
CARBURETOR FEEDBACK SYSTEM
THE COMPUTER ASSESSES EACH SIGNAL (1, 3, 4, 5) INPUT TO THE COMPUTER BY THE CARBURETOR FEEDBACK SYSTEM, AND OUTPUTS TO TERMINAL EBCV OF THE COMPUTER TO CONTROL THE EBCV IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE MAIN AIR BLEED AND SLOW AIR BLEED VOLUMES OF THE CARBURETOR PRIMARY.
FUEL CUT SYSTEM
THE COMPUTER ASSESSES EACH SIGNAL (4, 5) INPUT TO THE COMPUTER BY THE CUT SYSTEM, AND OUTPUTS TO TERMINAL FCS OF THE COMPUTER TO CONTROL THE FUEL CUT SOLENOID IN ORDER TO CUT OFF FUEL TO THE SLOW SYSTEM DURING DECELERATION.
FUEL EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL (EVAP) SYSTEM
THE COMPUTER ASSESSES EACH SIGNAL (2, 4, 5) INPUT TO THE COMPUTER BY THE EVAP SYSTEM, AND OUTPUTS TO TERMINAL FVP OF THE COMPUTER TO CONTROL THE VSV (FOR EVAP. PURGE) IN ORDER TO DRAW EVAPORTATED FUEL VAPOR, ABSORBED BY THE CHARCOAL CANISTER, FROM THE INTAKE MANIFOLD INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
COLD MIXTURE HEATER (CMH) SYSTEM
THE COMPUTER ASSESSES EACH SIGNAL (2, 6) INPUT TO THE COMPUTER BY THE CMH SYSTEM AND, WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, OUTPUTS TO TERMINAL ERLY OF THE COMPUTER RELAY TO CONTROL THE CMH RELAY IN ORDER TO HEAT UP THE AIR.FUEL MIXTURE ON THE PRIMARY SIDE AND PROMOTE EVAPORATION.
3. DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (CALIFORNIA)
WITH THE DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM, WHEN THERE IS A MALFUNCTIONING IN THE ECU SIGNAL SYSTEM, THE MALFUNCTION SYSTEM IS RECORDED IN THE MEMORY. THE MALFUNCTIONING SYSTEM CAN THEN BE FOUND BY READING THE DISPLAY (CODE) OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT.
