Idle Speed Vacuum Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection

1. Ensure that all accessories are turned OFF.
2. Using a voltmeter, check that the meter indicates battery voltage during cranking and for ten seconds after starting.

Checking Idle-Up VSV Voltage:





3. Disconnect the vacuum hoses to the VSV and blow air into pipe E. Ensure that NO air flows through pipe F.

Testing Idle-Up VSV Operation - Current Removed:





4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the VSV and apply battery current to the terminals.
5. Check that air does flow through pipe E to pipe F.

Testing Idle-Up VSV Operation - Current Applied:





6. If a problem is found, replace the VSV.
7. Reconnect vacuum lines and connector to the VSV.
