TITLE: SEALING OF REAR COMBINATION LAMP ASSEMBLY

Whenever a rear combination lamp assembly is removed and replaced on Tercel or Corolla coupe models, the following procedure should be followed to properly seal the luggage compartment from water entry.

SERVICING INFORMATION:
1) To ease the removal of the rear combination lamp assembly, use a heat lamp to warm the butyl tape to 40-50~C (104-122~F).

2) Using a cleaner (Kent Industries - ACRYSOL P/N AB-S20005 or 3M - General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner P/N 08984), remove remaining butyl tape from the body. Cleaners will not damage paint, however they may damage the lens.

3) Fill in gap at junction of quarter and lower rear panels using a seam sealer (3M - ULTRA PRO autobody sealant, tan P/N 08301, clear P/N 08302 or Kent Industries - Leak Chek Clear P/N HTC-10200, Leak Chek Neutral P/N HTN-10075).

4) Apply the new butyl tape (Kent Indutries Butyl Windshield Tape/ 20170 or 3M Window-weld Ribbon Sealer P/N 08610) along the guide on the rear combination lamp with 60 mm (2.4 in.) of overlap as shown on page 2.
5) Install the rear combination lamp assembly.

6) Immerse the rear combination lamp assembly with water and check for leakage.
