A/C - Remanufactured Compressor Serial Numbers

SUBJECT: REMANUFACTURED COMPRESSOR SERIAL NUMBERS
Please be advised that remanufactured A/C compressors have serial numbers that are in a different position and a different format than the serial numbers found on the non-remanufactured compressors. Original equipment serial numbers are formated, NNA-NNNNN. (example: 11C-00200). This number is found on the black & silver plate located on the back of each compressor, as shown in the example below.
On remanufactured compressors the serial number format is now A-NNNNNN
(example: H-014222). As with the regular compressors,the letter represents the year and proceeds the vehicle year by one. (e.g. compressor H=88, vehicle H=87). This number will not be found on the normal black & silver sticker, but rather at the top of the compressor on a white sticker with green lettering, (see attachment). Since this serial number is not the same as the regular compressor it cannot be used in the compressor field and must be submitted in the CCR.
Make sure that the original part number on your warranty claim is the part that actually came off the vehicle. Refer to the parts microfiche if more information is required.
