TITLE TOYOTA KEY CODE AND KEY CUTTER INFORMATION - 1989

The new key and lock system introduced on the 1988 model Corolla has been expanded to the 1989 Cressida and Trucks.

This new lock system is intended to achieve:
(1) Improved theft deterrence
(2) Increased availability of key code combinations

This change will require all Toyota dealers to obtain a new key cutter from Curtis Industries. Contact your local Curtis representative or call Curtis Industries customer service at (216) 951-2400 for information on this new key cutter.

For Toyotas with the previous lock and key system, the following Curtis equipment and Toyota key blanks are recommended:

(1) Blue handle key cutter
(2) 4 cams - TOY-1, TOY-2, TOY-3*, DC-1.
(3) 5 carriages - TOY-1, TOY-2, TOY-3, TOY-4, TOY-10A*.
(4) TR33, TR36, TR37, TR38 key blanks (for older models approximately 15 or more blanks are available.)

* For 1986 Celica Liftback models. TR39 blanks with TOY-3 cam and TOY-10A carriage.

The blue handle key cutter is usable for all Toyota models up to and including 1989, except 1988 and 1989 Corolla sedans and 1989 Cressida, and 1989 Truck, which use the new system.

For the new lock and key system, the following Curtis equipment and Toyota key blanks are recommended:

(1) Gold handle key cutter #2046
(2) Decoder slot TOY-50
(3) Cam set DC-50
(4) Carriage TOY-50
(5) Key blanks -- TR-40 (Curtis Industries Key Blank)
(6) New Key Code Book # 20481
