Rear Speed Sensor:
4-WD
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
a. Remove the seat cushion.
b. Disconnect the sensor connector, and pull out the sensor wiring harness.
c. Remove the two clamp bolts holding the sensor wiring harness to the body and suspension arm.
2. Remove rear brake assembly.
a. Remove the two bolts holding the caliper assembly and remove.
b. Suspend the caliper assembly from the strut tower to prevent the brake hose from being stretched.
3. Remove brake disk.
4. Remove rear axle hub.
a. Remove the four axle hub mounting bolts.
b. Remove the rear axle hub.
c. Remove the backing plate with parking brake assembly and O-ring.
5. Remove the speed sensor retaining bolt and remove the speed sensor from the backing plate.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the speed sensor into the backing plate and secure with retaining bolt. (9ft.-lb.)
2. Install rear axle hub.
a. Install the backing plate with the parking brake in place.
b. Install the O-ring to the axle carrier.
c. Install the rear axle with the four bolts. See SPECIFICATIONS.
3. Algin the hole on the axle hub and the service hole on the disk, and install the rotor disk.
4. Install the rear disk brake assembly and torque the two mounting bolts. See SPECIFICATIONS.
5. Connect the speed sensor connector.
a. Install the wiring harness with the clamps and bolts in place.
b. Insert the wiring harness connector to the inside of the vehicle, and connect the connector.
c. Install the rear seat cushion.
Symptom Chart:
Diagnostic Procedure #1:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
2. Remove the sensor retaining bolt and remove speed sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the speed sensor and the retaining bolt.
2. Check that the sensor installation bolt is tightened properly. (14ft.-lb.)
3. Check that there is no clearance between the sensor and the rear axle carrier.
