Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL:1. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose.
Disconnecting Vacuum Hose From FPR:
2. Put a suitable container under the FPR to catch any fuel that escapes.
3. Remove the union bolt and two gaskets for the fuel return pipe.
Disconnecting Fuel Return Line From FPR:
4. Remove the two FPR mounting bolts and pull out the FPR from the fuel rail.
Removing Fuel Pressure Regulator:
5. Remove the O-ring from the FPR.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install a new O-ring on the FPR. Coat the O-ring with a light coat of gasoline to ease insertion into the fuel rail.
2. Insert the FPR into the fuel rail, giving attention to the proper positioning of the FPR to prevent fuel leaks.
Correct Installation Of FPR:
3. Install the two FPR mounting bolts and torque bolts to 4 ft.lbs. (5.4 N-m).
4. Connect fuel return pipe to the FPR utilizing new gaskets.
5. Torque the union bolt to 13 ft.lbs. (18 N-m). DO NOT overtighten the union bolt.
6. Reconnect the vacuum sensing hose to the FPR.
7. Ensure that any gasoline that escaped is thoroughly cleaned from the engine.
8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
