Removal and Installation

REMOVE MASTER CYLINDER



- Disconnect level warning switch connector
- Take out fluid with syringe

CAUTION: Do not let brake fluid remain on a painted surface. Wash it off immediately.




- Disconnect brake tubes
- Using Special Service Tool (SST) #09751-36011, disconnect brake tubes from the master cylinder.



- Remove the three nuts and 3-way union.
- Remove the clamp.
- Remove the master cylinder from the brake booster and remove the gasket.

INSTALL MASTER CYLINDER



- Clean out groove on lower installation surface of master cylinder.
- Confirm that "up" mark on master cylinder boot is in correct position.
- Adjust length of brake booster push rod before installing master cylinder.

- Set the Special Service Tool (SST) #09737-00010 on the master cylinder with the gasket, and then lower the pin until its slightly touches the piston.



- Turn the SST upside down and set it on the booster.
- Measure the clearance between the booster push rod and pin head (SST).

Clearance: 0 mm (0 in.)



- Adjust the booster push rod length until the push rod lightly touches the pin head.



- Set the new gasket and install the master cylinder, clamp and 3-way union on the brake booster with three nuts.

Torque: 13 Nm (9 ft lb)



- Using SST, connect the brake tubes to the master cylinder Torque the union nuts. (SST 09751-36011)

Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft lb)

- Connect level warning switch connector.
- Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system.
- Check for fluid leakage.
- Check and adjust brake pedal.
