Removal and Installation

REMOVE CALIPER



- Remove the union bolt and disconnect the brake hose. Use a container to catch the brake fluid.




- Remove the installation bolt and cylinder.

- Remove pads

DISASSEMBLE CALIPER



- Remove sliding bushings and dust boots




- Pull out the main pin boot.




- Using a screwdriver, remove the cylinder boot set ring and cylinder boot.

- Put a piece of cloth or an equivalent as shown.




- Use compressed air to remove the piston from the cylinder.

WARNING: Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air. Injury WILL result.




- Using a screwdriver remove the piston seal.

REASSEMBLE CALIPER
- Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to following parts:



- Main pin boot
- Sliding bushing and dust boots
- Piston, piston seal and cylinder boot




- Install piston seal and piston in cylinder




- Install cylinder boot and set ring in cylinder




- Install the main pin boot in place.




- Install the sliding bushing and dust boots into the brake cylinder.

- Insure that the boots are secured firmly to the brake cylinder groove.

REINSTALL CALIPER



- Install pads

- Install caliper




- Set the flexible hose and new gaskets in position and install the union bolt and torque it.

Torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

- Fill Brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system

- Check for leaks
