Disassembly and Reassembly

REMOVE CALIPER
- Remove the wheel and temporarily fasten the rotor disc with the
hub nuts.
- Remove two installation bolts from the torque plate.
- Remove the brake cylinder and suspend it so the hose is not stretched.
NOTE: Do not disconnect the brake hose.
- Remove following parts:
- Two anti-squeal springs
- Two brake pads
- Two anti-squeal shims
- Two pad wear indicator plates
- Four pad support plates
- Disconnect brake line
- Remove the union bolt and disconnect the brake line. Use a container to catch the brake fluid.
- Remove caliper from torque plate by removing the two installation bolts.
- Remove pads
DISASSEMBLY OF CALIPER
- Remove following parts:
- Two cylinder bushings
- Four dust boots
- Using a screwdriver, remove the cylinder boot set ring and cylinder boot.
- Put a piece of cloth or an equivalent between the piston and cylinder.
- Use compressed air to remove the piston from the cylinder.
WARNING: Do not place your fingers in front of the piston when using compressed air. Injury WILL result.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the piston seal.
REASSEMBLY OF CALIPER
- Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to parts indicated with arrows
- Install piston seal and piston in cylinder
- Install cylinder boot and set ring in cylinder
- Install dust boots and sliding bushing
- lnstall the dust boots into the brake cylinder.
- Insure that the boot is secured firmly to the brake cylinder groove.
- Install the bushing into the boots.
- Insure that the boot is secured firmly to the bushing groove.
REINSTALL CALIPER
- Install pads
- Install cylinder
- Install flexible hose to brake cylinder
- Set the flexible hose and new gaskets in position and install the union bolt.
Torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lb)
- Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system
- Check for leaks
