Speed Sensor Diagnostic System

While checking the speed sensor diagnosis system, the ABS does not function and the brakes function as a standard brake system.
1. Ensure the battery voltage is approximately 12 volts and the "ANTI-LOCK" warning light is functioning.
2. On 1989-91 Celica 2WD models, remove control relay, then disconnect the check connector from the control relay.
3. On 1989-91 Celica 4WD and Camry models, remove the rubber cap from the Ts connector then, connect the terminals.
4. On Celica 2WD models, disconnect the check connector from the actuator.
5. On Cressida models, connect the terminals Tc and E1 of the TDCL.
6. On MR2 models, connect terminals E1, Tc and Ts of check connector.
7. On 1992 Camry, Celica, Pickup and 4Runner models, connect tool No. 09843-18020 or equivalent, between check connector terminals Ts and E1.
8. On all models, set the parking brake and start the engine.
9. On models except MR2 and 1992 Camry and Celica, pump brake pedal four to six times within two seconds.
10. On MR2 and 1992 Camry and Celica models, do not depress brake pedal.
11. On all models, warning light should blink about four times per second.
12. Release parking brake, then inspect sensor signal level by driving vehicle straight ahead on a level surface between two and four mph. While the warning light is off, do not suddenly accelerate, decelerate, brake or swerve. The warning light will turn on after a one second pause. Accelerate over 4 mph; if the warning light blinks, the speed sensors are functioning correctly. If the light stays on without blinking, stop the vehicle, then read the diagnostic (trouble) code. Refer to SPEED SENSOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE.
13. Release parking brake, then inspect sensor signal change by driving vehicle straight ahead on a level surface between 28 and 34 mph. While the warning light is off, do not suddenly accelerate, decelerate brake or swerve, the warning light will turn on after after a one second pause. Accelerate to above 34 mph, If the warning light blinks, the sensor rotors are functioning correctly. If the light stays on without blinking stop the vehicle and read the diagnostic (trouble) code. On 2WD Celica and Camry models, do not set the parking brake or depress the brake more than 16 times or the diagnostic (trouble) codes in the computer will be erased. On 4WD Celica models, stop vehicle and disconnect check connector, then read diagnostic (trouble) codes.
14. After testing is completed: On 2WD Camry models, turn ignition switch on, then connect the actuator connector. On 4WD Camry models, ensure ignition is off, then connect the actuator connector. Remove wire from Ts connector and install rubber cap. On Celica 2WD models, turn ignition switch off, then connect the actuator check connector and install the relay. On Celica 4WD models, turn ignition switch on, connect actuator check connector. Remove the wire from the Ts connector and install the rubber cap. On Cressida models, turn ignition switch off, then remove service wire wire from terminals Tc and E1 from the TDCL.
