Wiper and Washer Wiring Diagram

INSPECTION OF WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH

1. INSPECT WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY Inspect the switch continuity between terminals.

If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

Switch Inspection:




2. INSPECT SWITCH OPERATION

(a) Turn the INT time control switch to the fastest position.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 17 and connect the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 14.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 21 and connect the negative (-) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 14. Turn the wiper switch to INT position and check that the meter needle indicates battery voltage.

Jumper Connection:




(d) ^ Connect a jumper wire from terminal 20 to terminal 14.
^ Now connect a jumper from 20 to 17 and back to 14.
^ Rotate the INT time control switch from the fast to slow position and check that voltage between terminals 21 and 14 alternate between 0 and battery voltage.

No Voltage Battery Voltage

Fastest Approx. 2 secs. Approx. 1 sec.
Slowest Approx. 4 - 10 secs. Approx. 1 sec.

If operation is not as described, replace the switch.

Switch Replacement:




REPLACEMENT OF WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH

REPLACE WIPER AND WASHER SWITCH
(a) Remove the terminals from the connector.
(b) Remove the terminal from the horn contact plate.
(c) Remove the wiper and washer switch.
(d) Install the wiper and washer switch.
(e) Install the terminal to the horn contact plate.
(f) Install the terminals to the connector.
