Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair


Removal

1. Disconnect throttle cable from engine, then the transaxle control cable from manual shift lever.
2. Remove manual shift lever, then the neutral safety switch.
3. Remove valve body as previously described, then the retaining plate bolt and retaining plate.
4. Pull cable from transaxle case.

Installation

1. Insert cable into transaxle case, then install retaining plate and bolt.
2. Install valve body as previously described, then position cable stop for adjustment reference as follows Cable stop is not staked in place on replacement cable.

a. Bend cable to a radius of approximately 7.87 inches as shown, Fig. 8.
b. Lightly pull inner cable from housing until a slight resistance is felt, then hold in position.
c. On A130L and A131L models, stake stopper onto inner cable so that .031-.059 inch clearance exists between stop and cable housing.

d. On except A130L and A131L models, paint a mark with a .16 inch width as shown, Fig. 9.
3. Connect throttle cable, then adjust cable as previously described.
4. Install neutral safety switch, then the manual shift lever. Adjust switch as previously described.
5. Connect transaxle control cable.
6. Ensure transaxle fluid level is to specifications, then road test vehicle.
