TRANSMISSIONREFERENCE AND CLUTCH
NUMBER 025
DATE 7-26-84
MODEL SV, CE, AE (FF)
The purpose of this bulletin is to aid in the diagnosis and repair of the A140E, A130L and A131L automatic transaxles.
CONDITION:
Transmission slippage in second gear.
POSSIBLE CAUSE:
Internal pressure loss at second brake drum (B2) seal.
REMEDY:
Check the condition of the transmission fluid. If the fluid appears to be "normal", not excessively discolored and not exhibiting a "burnt" smell, replacement of the B2 seal should correct the condition. However, if the fluid appears to be excessively discolored or exhibits a "burnt" smell, along with the new B2 seal, it may be necessary to replace the second brake discs and plates. The new components must be installed in the following order:
A140E and A130L; flange-disc-plate-disc-plate-disc-plate.
A131L; flange-disc-plate-plate-disc-plate-plate.
For further assembly procedures, please reference the appropriate section in the repair manual.
