Oil Pump Service/Inspection

Fig. 15 Measuring oil pump driven rotor & body clearance:





1. Using a suitable feeler gauge, measure clearance between driven rotor and pump body, Fig. 15. Clearance should be .0039-.0067 inch. If clearance exceeds specified amount, replace oil pump rotor set and/or pump body.

2. Using a feeler gauge, measure clearance between both rotor tips, Fig. 16. Clearance should be .0020-.0059 inch. If clearance exceeds specified amount, replace rotor and/or pump body.

3. Using a feeler gauge and a straightedge as shown in Fig. 17, measure side clearance. Clearance should be .0059 inch. If clearance exceeds specified amount, replace rotor and/or pump body.
