Anti-Rust Treatment
Through the next 3 steps, adjust the spray gun air pressure regulator, attach the proper wand and apply anti-rust materials according to the following:Material Amount of Material Wand Pressure
I Penetrant 1/2 can 360~ Atomizing wand 20 psi
II Undercoat 1 can 360~ Atomizing wand 100 psi
(Inside)
III Undercoat 1 can L-Wand 100 psi
(Outside)
Spray Gun:
Note: Spray gun trigger stop should be turned completely in allowing full trigger travel. Fig. 15.
Spray Gun:
3.3.1 Apply penetrant to the inside of the arms.
Suspension Arm:
Suspension Arm:
Apply the penetrant by inserting the 360~ atomizing wand, Fig. 16, through the holes in the suspension arm in the direction of the arrow in, Fig. 17, then spray while pulling it back out. (Approx. 2 seconds spray time.) Spray penetrant until it is dripping from the holes in the arms. Fig. 18.
Spring Seat:
3.3.2 Apply penetrant to the outside of the spring seat area. Fig. 19.
3.3.3 Apply undercoating to the inside of arms.
Replace the penetrant in the spray gun with undercoating and adjust the air pressure to 100 psi.
Use the same procedure as mentioned above for inserting spray gun nozzle in the direction shown and then spray while pulling it back out (approx. 5 seconds spray time for undercoating making sure to USE THE ENTIRE CAN of undercoat for both arms).
Suspension Arm:
3.3.4 Install grommets.
Using a center punch, make sure that holes B-1, B-2 and B-3 are clear and plug with correct size grommets. Fig. 20.
Grommets Part Number Quantity Required
B-1 47491-16010 8 per vehicle
B-2 47491-16020 2 per vehicle
B-3 47491-16030 4 per vehicle
3.3.5 Re-install stablizer end.
Outside of Arm:
3.3.6 Apply undercoating to outside of arm.
Change the spray gun Wand to the L-type wand. Maintain 100 psi air pressure and apply undercoat to the exterior of the suspension arms. Fig. 21.
Spring Seat:
NOTE: Apply extra heavy coat of undercoat at spring seat area as shown below. Don't forget to again clear drain holes with a screwdriver after undercoating. Fig. 22.
