Parking Brake Pedal: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY
OVERHAUL
1. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PNL INSERT SUB-ASSY LWR LH
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH
5. REMOVE SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY (W/ VSC)
a. Disconnect the skid control buzzer connector.
b. Remove the skid control buzzer assy.





6. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY
a. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the skid control ECU from the body.
b. Disconnect the skid control ECU connectors, and remove the skid control ECU.
7. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSY NO.1
a. Release the parking brake pedal.





b. Remove the clip and disconnect the parking brake cable assy No. 1 from the parking brake pedal assy.
8. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSY
a. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector and harness clamp.





b. Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake control pedal assy.
9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY
a. Remove the screw and parking brake switch assy.
10. REMOVE TENSION SPRING





11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY
a. Remove the nut, bolt and parking brake pedal from the bracket.
b. Remove the 2 bushes from the parking brake pedal.





12. REMOVE PARKING CABLE CLEVIS
a. Using snap ring pliers, remove the snap ring, pin and parking cable clevis.
13. REMOVE PARKING PEDAL PAD
14. INSTALL PARKING PEDAL PAD
15. INSTALL PARKING CABLE CLEVIS
a. Install the pin into the parking cable clevis and parking brake pedal.





b. Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring.
16. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE PEDAL SUB-ASSY
a. Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease on are new 2 bushes.
b. Install the 2 bushes to the parking brake pedal.





c. Install the parking brake pedal to the bracket with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft. lbs.)
17. INSTALL TENSION SPRING
18. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSY
a. Install the parking brake switch assy with the screw.





19. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CONTROL PEDAL ASSY
a. Install the parking brake control pedal assy with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 39 Nm (400 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.)
b. Connect the parking brake switch connector and harness clamp.





20. CONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSY NO.1
a. Connect the parking brake cable assy No. 1 and clip to the parking brake pedal assy.
21. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY
a. Connect the skid control ECU connectors.





b. Install the skid control ECU with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
22. INSTALL SKID CONTROL BUZZER ASSY (W/ VSC)
a. Install the skid control buzzer assy.
b. Connect the skid control buzzer connector.
23. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH
24. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
25. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PNL INSERT SUB-ASSY LWR LH
26. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER
27. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
