The front door lock assembly has been modified to improve inside door opening smoothness and provide a Toyota like "feel."

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2001 - 2004 model year Highlander vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Remove and replace the front door lock assembly. Refer to ETAS 2001 -- 2004 Highlander Repair Manual:

Precaution for Power Door Lock Control System
When performing operations related to the door lock system and door lock key cylinder, be sure to disconnect the battery terminal or the connector of the front window regulator motor.

CAUTION:
Do NOT perform repairs with the connectors being connected to the power source. The door control switch inside the door lock may be activated and may result in personal injury.
