Some owners of 2001 or 2002 model year Highlander vehicles without the VSC option may experience a M.I.L. "ON" condition with diagnostic trouble code P0500 present in the system and may complain that the ABS Light is illuminated. An updated Skid Control/ABS ECU has now been made available to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2001 - 2002 model year Highlander vehicles produced before the VIN shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Investigate the vehicle as per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual.
2. If no problem is found, replace the Skid Control ECU, per the 2001 Highlander Repair Manual.
